For those of us who grew up in the 1970′s Scooby Doo ranked with other super heroes like Batman, Superman and the Green Hornet. The loyal and loveable Great Dane might have been a coward but he always mustered up courage in the nick of time to save his pals from various villains.

In those days before cable and satellite Saturday mornings were devoted to children’s programming. Cartoons aired non-stop from early morning until late afternoon on every channel. We never missed the antics of Scooby Doo and his gang.

In each episode Scooby and his friends traveled in the Mystery Machine to a small town plagued by a ghost or demon. The team would interview residents and research public records for background information before setting out in search of the culprit. Their investigation typically exposed that a person rather than a supernatural being was actual perpetrator and the episode would end with a public unmasking of the villain.

The amateur sleuths often employed elaborate disguises in their efforts. What makes Scooby Doo the guru of disguise is the ability of this very large dog with a very pronounced speech impediment and a never-ending appetite for doggie snacks to go undercover and make the bust.

How can Scooby Doo and Shaggy manage to eat so much junky food and still not gain weight? In the show, they devour hamburgers by the sack and Scooby Snacks by the box… That cannot be healthy! Still, these two scaredy-cat mystery solvers remain stick skinny. What gives? The obvious answer is plenty of exercise, of course. Running away from spooky ghosts works wonders to keep a body toned.

However, this duo’s real secret lies in what happens off camera. Sure, Scoob and Shaggy have bottomless appetites and stuff their faces with any tasty, tasty treats they can while “on the job”, but adrenaline and danger are the special sauces that make those snacks taste super. When they are at home instead of cruising along in the Mystery Machine, this plucky pair pays much closer attention to what they eat.

This duo knows the trick to having the foods you love is enjoying them in moderation. Shaggy is not the world’s greatest calorie tracker, and Scooby Doo doesn’t count carbs religiously, but they do what they can to keep themselves fit. They have to! A lot of their lives are spent keeping two steps ahead of the latest mystery ghoul.

Scooby Doo has been around for decades. This beloved television show still reaches children and shows them wholesome good way to deal with the things that scare them. This comical show is great entertainment for any age and parents do not have to worry about their children being exposed to any gruesome violence.

Scooby Doo has unforgettable characters who continue to influence in a positive way. Velma is the smart one who is always figuring out the mystery. Fred is the mastermind who is always coming up with ideas for traps, even though they do not always work out the way he thought they would. Daphne is the red head with fashion style and always getting herself in bad situations. Who could ever forget the comical Shaggy, who is always hungry, and his partner Scooby Doo, who is always right there chowing down with him?

Scooby Doo is the perfect show for children to watch because they are always doing what is right and they always catch the bad guy. Not only do the catch the villains, they show children that they do not need to be scared of ghosts, witches, and goblins. They teach kids to face their fears.

There are several movie versions of Scooby Doo. In fact, more and more keep coming out and you can easily find them by using on television from www.direct.tv and on DVD from your local redbox kiosk. Warner Brother’s first did a live action film using movie stars for the Hanna Barbera popular animated feature in 2002. The film was titled Scooby Doo. This was followed by a sequel in 2004. The original live action film featured Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred and Linda Cardellini as Velma. Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, followed in 2004.

Scooby Doo has become popular again since it first appeared as a regular cartoon in 1969. The show features a team of teenage detectives that solve mysteries with their pal Scooby who is a dog. The team often solves these mysteries while traveling through the country in their van.

Here are some Scooby Doo interesting Trivia facts. Matthew Lillard did the voice for Shaggy for the recent cartoon movie called, Scooby Doo Abracadabra Doo. It was the first time he has done the voice since he acted as Shaggy in the two live action films he did of Scooby Doo. The voice of Shaggy was done by Casey Kasem in the original cartoon from 1969. This cartoon movie by DTV is the first time that the Hanna Barerra logo was not featured in the end of the cartoon, mainly because Warner Brothers Animation had made all the DTV Scooby Doo movies.

Over the years, the Mystery Inc. team has graced our T.Vs and movie theatres. But who are the members of Mystery Inc.? And who are just some of the actors and actresses that have brought them to life?Fred Jones The original and current voice for the cartoon show has been provided by Frank Welker. Fred is best known for always taking charge, setting traps, and his romantic feelings for Daphne. These feelings are best brought to life by Freddie Prinze Jr. in Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monster’s Unleashed.Daphne Blake Alongside her husband, Freddie Prinze, Sarah Michelle Gellar played Daphne in 2002 and 2004. Frequently kidnapped by the bad guys, Daphne is still one of the most liked characters in Mystery Incorporated. Indira Stefanianna Christopherson supplied Daphne’s voice for the first year that Scooby-Doo aired; however, it was Heather North Kenney that took over. Kenney played Daphne for fifteen years (1970-1985) and provided her voice in 1997 and 2003 as well.Velma Dinkley Alongside always losing her glasses, Velma is known for using her science skills to solve all the mysteries. For the first five years, Velma was played by Nicole Jaffe. However, in Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monster’s Unleashed, Velma can be credited to Linda Cardellini.Shaggy Rogers Easily Scooby-Doo’s best pal, Shaggy is always on the hunt for food. He also enjoys a good Scooby snack and doesn’t like going into creepy places. Matthew Lillard starred as Shaggy in the 2002 and 2004 flicks, but Casey Kasem was the first to play the character. Kasem provided a voice for Shaggy from the first show until 1997.Scooby-Doo This beloved Great Dane will do anything for a Scooby Snack and can always be found where there’s food. The first person to ever play Scooby was Don Messick, and he played that role for 27 years. The voice of Scooby in the recent Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2 was Neil Fanning.

The Scooby-Doo rides aren’t the only way to get inside Scooby’s world. Game makers have been providing Mystery Inc. games for years. From old games for the Nintendo 64 and more recent ones for the Xbox and Wii, there’s something to fit any of your favorite consoles. For the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color there’s the Scooby-Doo: Classic Creep Capers game. Based on the old cartoons, you (as Shaggy) travel from level to level looking for clues. Scooby is with you as you attempt to solve three mysteries. Just don’t let the Mystery Inc. duo get too scared. While you won’t have to restart the game, the level will start over.Scooby-Doo Mystery Mayhem also involves Scooby and Shaggy, however in this game, you can switch between the two. When a gang of monsters gets released from an ancient book, the Tome of Doom, it’s up to the game to put these ghouls, goblins and zombies back where they belong. Mystery Mayhem can be purchased for the Xbox, the Game Boy Advance, the PS2 or the Game Cube.If nothing else, Scooby Doo! Who’s Watching Who gets credit for an interesting storyline. After Mystery Inc. become reality T.V. stars, their mystery solving procedures are questioned. Ghost Scene Investigators, another ghost hunting show, puts Mystery Inc. on the spot and it’s up to you to help restore the gang’s name. Available for the Nintendo DS and PSP.You, and a friend, can play as any member of Mystery Inc in the new Scooby Doo: First Frights game for the Wii. While gamers are still solving mysteries, four to be exact, there is an interesting addition. You can now disguise your characters “in a variety of super-powerful costumes unique for each character to gain abilities and weapons” (First Frights website). First Frights can also be purchased for the PS2 and the Nintendo DS.While they may not be the most high-tech games, they certainly provide a little fun for Scooby fans.

The 2002 Scooby-Doo movie was not one of the worst films. Scooby-Doo is directed by Raja Gosnell, the man behind such 90′s classics as Mrs. Doubtfire and the Home Alone films. Meanwhile Craig Titley (Percy Jackson and the Olypmians: The Lightning Thief) and James Gunn (Slither) are responsible for the story. So how did Gosnell, Titley and Gunn pull of the classic cartoon? Let’s put it this way, most Scooby fans will probably wonder, classic Scooby-Doo. . . where are you?The opening shows a transformed Mystery Incorporated. Tensions emerge, and not even 20 minutes in the gang has broken up. However, when the party-crazed teens of Spooky Island start acting differently, Emile Mondavarious calls in Scooby and the gang to solve the mystery. The gang reunites, kind of, with each member (other than Scooby and Shaggy) trying to solve the crime for themselves. The mystery was certainly supernatural, and the old cartoons have played out stranger plots. However, the film does steer off-course towards the end, taking it in completely different direction than anything you’ve seen in the cartoons. One a positive note, the cast did well on capturing the characters actual and suggested personas. The choice of Sarah Michelle Gellar and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. really accented the suggested, and later, actual romance between Daphne and Fred. As for Shaggy, Matthew Lillard brought the munchie craving character to life. The film even skirts around a possible illegal source for the character’s appetite, adding a little humor for adult audiences. Velma’s nerdy but loveable personality shines from Linda Cardellini, who plays Velma as an overlooked member of the gang. As for Scooby, he was. . . well, Scooby-just a CGI version.Overall, if it wasn’t for the cast of Scooby-Doo, the film would be only average. While the plot certainly plays on the supernatural/masked villain cartoons, it comes off more like Mystery Inc. on Spring Break than solving a mystery.

Scooby-Doo and his mystery solving friends have captured global audiences since 1969. With the series “What’s New Scooby-Doo” running on Cartoon Network, and the classic cartoons still airing on Boomerang, the Great Dane remains a beloved character. But did you know that you can also live the world of Scooby-Doo? All across the world, theme parks have taken Scooby-Doo and turned his mystery solving antics into fun and memorable rides.Scooby-Doo’s Ghoster CoasterLocated in Doswell, Virginia, the Ghoster Coaster has been at Kings Dominion’s since the park’s original opening in 1974. The park only had two rides then (Ghoster Coaster being one) and wouldn’t offer more until its 1975 opening. This Scooby-Doo adventure takes park guests on a rip-roaring adventure over a bright blue wooden coaster. Admission to King’s Dominion is priced at 56.99 for adults and 34.99 for seniors and children.Scooby-Doo Spooky CoasterThe indoor Spooky Coaster can be found in Australia. Located in the Warner Brothers Movie World (Gold Coast), guests are greeted by eerie courtyards and a replica of Spooky Castle. As for the ride itself, the Spooky Coaster isn’t based on the cartoon series, but rather, the recent Scooby-Doo film (2002). The film starred Matthew Lillard, Sarah Michelle Geller and Freddie Prinze Jr. Unlike the wooden coaster in Virginia, this ride is a wild mouse coaster. Children and seniors can purchase tickets for 49.99, while adult tickets cost 74.99. All annual passes are priced at 99.99.Scooby-Doo Mystery of the Scary SwampThe Six Flags in Eureka, Missouri is home to a mystery. . . of the Scary Swamp. As you float along on this water ride, you’re solving mysteries and zapping ghouls and ghosts. How do you get rid of the spirits, you ask? Why, with your very own Fright Light of course! Admission costs 42.99 for adults and 32.99 for children.
